Tuberculosis Test

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are very much looking forward to welcoming your child to ICSV.

Before students can start attending ICSV, they must submit the results of a tuberculosis test. Since this process can take several weeks, it is important to plan accordingly as your child may not start classes until the school has received results stating that your child does not have tuberculosis.

All new students who have arrived in Vienna within the past six months need to have a Mendel Mantoux test (specific skin test for tuberculosis) or undergo a chest X-ray before their start of school at ICSV.

The test can be done anywhere but the result of the test has to be stamped and signed by a health authority or doctor, translated into either English or German, and should be no older than 6 weeks at the time your child starts classes at ICSV.

Please note: While parents may choose between a chest X-ray or a skin test, children that have been previously immunized for tuberculosis will most likely show a false positive with a skin test. We require a negative test result before starting school and your child would have to follow up with a chest X-ray. We therefore recommend to parents of TB immunized children to choose a chest X-ray. Most radiology clinics will require that your doctor prescribes the X-ray. The radiology clinic will then provide you with the official results that you may pass on to us.

Please bring or submit via email ( the results of the student’s tuberculosis test to the Admissions office before the first day of school at ICSV. It is our school’s utmost priority to ensure the safety of all children in our international community.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
